Description

Name: John Nakahara

Height: 5’ 8”

Weight/ Body type: Slightly underweight, small-medium frame, short-average

Age: 18

Appearance: Black hair, dark brown eyes, and rectangular glasses; Asian; normally wears pretty fashionless clothes but for the event of the tournament was pushed to wearing a suit with a green tie.

A summary of their personality: At first glance John seems incredibly introverted. Shy and quiet, he’s nice and clumsy to most, though distracted. Polite and prefers to something of a wallflower. Despite how he acts, he doesn’t think very highly of most of the people around him. Subtly arrogant. He’d usually rather be alone. With closer friends, of which he has few, he’s got a cynical wit to him and is playfully sarcastic, with a mostly optimistic attitude. Of course, he also has a tendency to be paranoid and worry a lot, getting neurotic and anxious about things that would only bother most people moderately. Fussy to the point of freak outs. In the end, he’s still kind of a pushover… unless he or someone he loves is in danger, in which case he can become desperately assertive, usually with mixed results.

A short history about them: John was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His father is Japanese and his mother is Chinese, and he was raised in the US, so. He learned to speak the languages but not to write them. (He might have a chance of reading Japanese, but…) He was raised with pretty high expectations. He didn’t completely meet them all the time (can he play the violin and is he going to become a doctor? No…), but he didn’t disappoint them. His parents are more impressed with his older sister, though. John didn’t make too many long-lasting friends until he met Dani in high school. High school was a time when he excelled at academics by studying in corners while trying and tossing way too many extra-curriculars. However, he already knew three languages and did a lot of community service and all that transcript jazz, and found himself at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology… pretty much five minutes from where he lived. However, he also found himself unable to pay for much of his tuition. Which is how he found Lawrence.
Lawrence Thatcher is his roommate, a sophomore in architecture. He also happens to make large amounts of money by card counting when he plays blackjack, and is kind of a shady character. While that isn’t completely legal, and Lawrence isn’t incredibly friendly, he’s certainly open, and let John come along. Now, John isn’t usually good at being good at things, except when he is, and he caught onto the technique quickly. By the end of the first semester, he was nearly as good as Lawrence. He still doesn’t know much about Lawrence, though, because the sophomore constantly gives off the vibe that this is the least illegal illegal thing he’s ever done.

Abilities: While he’s too much of a pansy to really use it/say it out loud most of the time, John has a quick mind that can concentrate in the most ridiculous of situations, and can assess a situation and his choices usually in a matter of seconds. However, that’s when he gets caught, and starts to fret about consequences. He kind of trips over himself.
Apart from that, he’s a complete physical wimp. He can barely jog for a minute. He can, however, type faster than a secretary on fire and operate on very little sleep. He hasn’t declared a major yet, but he’s going to school for a computer programming kind of degree. John specializes in computers and technology, and used to make (still makes sometimes) little gadgets. Mainly though, computers.

Fighting Style/Weapons: John cannot fight. He can hardly run. He is not very good at hiding. He is overall in an overwhelmingly bad position for a fist fight. He’s aware of this and tries to keep as far away from people who are likely to hurt him as possible, and can usually figure out a way to evade an attacker when in that sort of situation. Sometimes he whimpers. He’s a scaredy-cat.
However, for the tournament he’s been given two guns – neither of which he has the faintest idea of how to really use, but enough so that he can point, shoot, and hope for the best. Surprisingly, he can maintain a decent poker face for all of around five minutes, enough to usually convince people that he can shoot them somewhere kind of painful. He really doesn’t want to actually shoot anyone, though, and may not be able to bring himself to pull the trigger…
John does have a cell phone though, a blackberry type deal that can do way more than a blackberry really should. It’s connected to Dani’s tracking devices, since John worries about him so much, and he can do a decent bunch of things – namely hacking – from it.
He also has a backpack, but it's kind of empty besides a stray sheet of paper or two, some pens and pencils. It was for just in case, because that's how John operates.

Downfall/Weaknesses: No physical skills. He can be whiney when he gets worried. He can think fast, but he can’t decide as fast. And obviously, he can’t let anything happen to Dani.

Relationship with Partner: Dani and John have been best friends since high school. John seems to be the more needy half of the relationship, but he’s also the older and definitely more responsible/mature half. It’s a mostly balanced deal. However, it has become a little awkward on his side recently since he’s in love with Dani and still trying to find out what to do with that information. He’s really torn on whether he should say something and risk making it completely awkward or not. But mainly he just wants things to be okay between them, so… He’s really torn.

Random: He’s never been in a relationship before. ~awkward high school phase~ He spends more time dallying about on the internet than he should. Speaks in a different language to bother Dani a lot (though Dani just does the same and speaks Spanish, so).

Name: Dani Castillo

Height: 5’ 11”

Weight/ Body type: Tall, skinny, lanky

Age: 17

Appearance: Dark blue eyes, blonde hair in a ponytail – he has two strands in front with red beads on them, he kind of hates them but John won’t let him do anything without them because they’re tracking devices. Dani thinks it’s kind of creepy, but knows that John is just really paranoid and kind of forgets about them. A black t-shirt and long khaki shorts, and a blazer he brought in a hurry.

A summary of their personality: Though he’s really a good guy, Dani comes off as sort of an asshole. He’s a coolkid, a tumblr kid, a hipster even. These might all be exaggerations. He has good intentions, he really does it’s just that. He doesn’t care. He’s not mean to anyone for no good reason, but he won’t be particularly warm. Dani’s the guy at school everyone kind of wants to talk to but no one really wants to be friends with because he’s just such a coolkid in that hipster-y kind of way, but he doesn’t mind. Despite this, when he wants to he can summon startling amounts of charisma. He has no qualms about announcing what he wants and getting it somehow. He’s enthusiastically cynical and sarcastic about almost everything and often it’s hard to tell when he’s being serious or not. His sense of humor is riddled with internet memes and dry deliverances to the point of being considered lame. He talks about things he’ll do but doesn’t do them. He waves off important matters. He’s smart, but he doesn’t work hard. However, not too far deep down he can be a kind person.

A short history about them: Also raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His father is Mexican, and his mother is Nordic-looking white, and Dani ended up looking just like her. It’s a little funny, really, he has a long blonde ponytail and looks just like his mother and has beads in his hair and yet so fiercely defends his masculinity. Dani also has a more successful older sister, but it causes him a lot more grief. They don’t have a great relationship. Actually, he doesn’t have a great relationship with his family in general. He never was a very good child.
He made a lot of friends, but they were never anything special. Dani didn’t have a really lasting friend until John. Somehow they became friends. Anyway, they also robbed houses in their spare time, since they really were lacking in funds. Hooligans, they were, but damn good hooligans, because they were never caught. He wasn’t a normal burglar, he was a cat burglar, and everything was done so it’d almost seem like the house had never been robbed in the first place. Dani did the breaking and entering itself, while John did all the planning.
Then John went off to college. Dani is a senior, and he’s gone back to being more of a loner at school; a little more so recently, because he knows he won’t go to college. While he hasn’t tried very hard and wouldn’t get into a fabulous college anyway, he is smart. He could get into a decent college if he wanted to… or if he could. Unlike John, he wouldn’t be able to afford it at all, and his parents wouldn’t support him. The reasons he actually cites for his not continuing his education vary, though, and he doesn’t act very affected. He tends to not really show how he feels a lot, instead just outwardly shrugging things off.

Abilities: Dani is in good shape, with enough strength in his arms to hoist himself up from a window and enough in his legs to run like hell. He somehow can hide a crowbar on his person without anyone ever noticing. John is still confused, it reminds him of Menda and her knives, and he’s worried that they’re in correspondence. From their experience, Dani is spectacular at sneaking around. Not being seen in person or on camera (usually with some of John’s technical help, but he can deal without it as well), prying windows out and putting them back in, being quiet. It would be impressive on his resume if. Well. It weren’t illegal.
He has a cell phone – it’s a scratched-up iPhone, which was handed down from his sister who now has a better iPhone – which does normal cell phone things. He has lots of stupid apps which he overuses, tumblr and twitter being only two examples.

Fighting Style/Weapons: No training in fighting, but strong enough to hold up in a fight for a while. The thing is, crowbars serve a purpose besides leverage for windows…! Dani has accumulated experience in thwacking people with a crowbar. He’s not one to start a fight without a great reason (though with one, he wouldn’t be reluctant), but he’s not one to usually walk away from a fight because he’s a bit of an idiot with sizeable pride.

Downfall/Weaknesses: He’s lazy. Unless provided with incredibly relevant motivation, it’s unlikely he’ll do much that he doesn’t want to do. Even when he is inclined to feel compassionate, he doesn’t always act on it. It sometimes makes him feel bad. He’s smart, but not incredibly so, and without John would probably be slow on the uptake of things.

Relationship with Partner: John is his best friend. He feels kind of lonely as of recently since he’s gone most of the time. Despite sometimes he seems almost disapproving or too cool, he really relies on him.

Random: He’s bi. Has never had a committed relationship, has had a few but they never worked out past two weeks. He’s an Aries. Overall, he’s kind of rash.

Wha. Sorry for lack of formatting and everything. Kind of in a rush here, eh!

Also, what happened to Dani's colors...? I have no idea.
